Hello.
Thank you for taking time out of your incredibly busy lifestyle to read the following bits of information. It actually means a great deal to me that you have paused here for a few moments.
I’ll try to not take up too much of your valuable time.
The words & images within this site are mine. I’m hoping you’ll decide to make one or two of them yours. That would be terrific, in fact. Kinda the whole reason for me using up a big chunk of my valuable time in assembling all of this…the hope that you may find something here worth taking home.
Art is a contract between the beholder and the beheld.
The majority of these photos were taken on my phone. Minimal processing, simply because I have not taken the time to learn how to use the million little software switches in my magic rectangle. So what you’re getting here is mostly what I saw and how I saw it.
I have lived and worked in and around Carrboro, Chapel Hill and Pittsboro since 1989, moving here after taking a degree in mathematics from NC State University in 1988. I have flirted with found object sculpture, showing my juvenile efforts in town in the early 1990s.
I write poetry, carefully and quietly these days. I will attend the open mic events in the area, fond of the Eno Arts Mill monthly, Weave & Spin. Recently my work was published in The Blotter (March 2025 issue), that was swell. I’ve started a collaboration with Ron Liberti on a series of broadsides. His screenprinting and my words. These are a seasonal offering available at Peel Gallery. I’m also writing a monthly column for chapelboro.com (your trusted source for local news) called Refugium. This a joint effort with Margot Lester of The Word Factory. It’s mainly about plants, horticulture and whatever comes to mind as I move through the built environment.
My portfolio is slowly accumulating.
I also have a job, serving as Curator for the Coker Arboretum on the UNC campus. The Arboretum is part of the NC Botanical Garden. It’s a 5 acre historic garden and an absolute delight.
I live in Chatham County, NC with my superstar wife. We walk a lot.
Thank you for your attention,
geoffrey
